3 Ways to Pamper Yourself (That Don’t Waste Your Time)
As a full-time college student, it’s hard to find moments dedicated to self-care. Recently,
media outlets for 2019 have encouraged readers to take more time for themselves as this
promotes a healthier and happier lifestyle. Every time I read these articles I think to myself,
“Who has THIS MUCH free time on their hands?” Well I have the solution for the girl on the go.
1. Facemasks and Other Tasks
Whenever I use a facemask, I feel like I instantly transform into an Instagram model with
flawless skin. In reality, I’m still the normal Julia with just slightly softer skin. Nevertheless,
facemasks are super relaxing and calming after a really stressful day. However, one of my least
favorite things about facemasks is that they can be messy, and you have to stay pretty still while
doing them. So instead of wasting the 20 minutes watching dumb YouTube videos, I use my
facemask time to respond to emails that I have received that day or check my grades and class
assignments. This turns a boring task of emails into a more rewarding one because when I’m
done, I can check another thing off my to-do list AND I have softer skin.
2. Whitening and Styling
As an avid coffee drinker, my teeth get stained very quickly. I used to use Crest 3D White Strips,
but they are super uncomfortable. I also noticed over time that my teeth were not staying white

While I whiten, I use this time to plan out my outfit for the next day, meal prep, or work
on any other assignments I need to complete. Because the trays fit in your mouth perfectly, and
no UV light is needed, I am able to walk around and complete other tasks with ease. The entire
process can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours, depending on how long you keep your
trays in. I typically do around 50 minutes. Because my time is valuable, Smile Brilliant is super

3. Take 20
Although time is something that is very precious to me, I think it is important to take 20
minutes to yourself every night doing something you love with zero distractions. I usually set a
timer and put my phone in another room. Activities that I enjoy are reading my favorite
magazine, watching an episode of my favorite show, or browsing my favorite online shopping
sites. During this time, I focus my energy into something relaxing for me and try not to think
about any tasks that I still have to complete for that day. This allows for me to destress and take a
breather.
